Ayurveda
Ayurveda, the science of life is getting lot of attention from the scientific community as well as from the people at large. There is demand from the people to know effective ayurvedic treatment for common diseases and basic principles. Ayurveda is not alternative. In India it is the established art of right living and medical system. In Ayurveda, a complex system of diagnosis is employed to trace the root cause of disease. The diagnosis of all diseases is based on which channels are obstructed. An excess of one dosha can create spill over effect in the body. Disease begins as a result of the doshas stagnation in the body. Once a dosha or doshas is out of Balance it begins to accumulate as a negative force.
![]() Ayurveda recognised one main cause in all the diseases. The cause is rooted in the impairment of the body's main ingredient principle called agni, the fire of digestion. A faulty fire leads to improper functioning of the tissue fires, which in turn creates ama in the gastrointestinal tract and leading to poor synthesis of tissues, which then increases the production of those malas and doshas that are harmful to the body. All internal diseases begin with ama's presence in the body, and all externally created diseases eventually produces ama. In addition to obstructing the body channels ama causes deterioration in our strength and energy levels leading to lethargy and fatigue. Ayurveda is a set of guidelines for long life and good health. Diet (AHARA): Eat only your favourite fresh, local, seasonal foods, freshly prepared and cooked. This means no frozen, canned, preserved, processed, no junk, no stale leftovers. All food should be of the highest quality, preferably organic and prepared and cooked correctly. It should be eaten at the right time and in the right place. . Our diet should have a balance of six tastes, sweet, Salt, astringent, sour, bitter and Pungent. Finally we should learn diet according to our own dosha.
LIFE STYLE (VIHARA): Rise early and retire early. Limit the use of toothpaste, soaps, detergents and synthetic cosmetics on yourself. Use a barley flour, gram talcum and warm water to clean yourself. Brush your teeth with barley flour and baking soda, massage with sesame oil. Have people around that you love and love you. Play at activities that enhance your mental and physical health.. Eg.: Yoga classes ![]() REJUVENATION THERAPIES [RASAYANA] These are for those of us who are ailing and ageing. They may be applied before or after purification therapy. They include special foods, herbs, oils, minerals and yoga. There are special and herbal mineral preparation available that boost the immune system and work on the bone marrow, liver, nerve cells and reproductive cells. Improper diet and lifestyle leads to Over-acidification of the body fluids (blood, saliva, urine) which promotes disease status. It is only when the body is acidic that becomes vulnerable to germs and disease. Depending upon the level and extent of stress and toxins[ through food, water and air] that you allow into your body maintains an acidic, alkaline or neutral state. The good news is that all the bodily system (circulation, digestion, respiration) work towards balancing the pH of the body or the acid/base balance. However, these mechanisms breakdown or become insufficient, if the body gets overtly acidic over an extended period of time. This is exactly what is happening to us in this modern day and age. So one must choose to eat sensibly so that the alkaline reserves in the body are constantly replenished Life presents us with many challenges and opportunities. Although there is much over which we have control, we do have the power to decide about something's, like our diet and lifestyle. To maintain balance and health, it is important to pay attention to these decisions. Diet and lifestyle appropriate to one's individual strengthen the body, mind and consciousness. ![]() Contrary to Western approach, Ayurveda's principles are oriented to act at the root of the disease and re-organise the system. Thus the treatment supports and rejuvenate the corrupted systems of the body. Surgery has been an integral part of Ayurveda from vedic times. We must know that 'Health' is not something to be gained. We already have it by birth, but we have damaged it continuously. Hence it is positively present. We have to Ignite it". It is a state of physical, mental, social and spiritual wellbeing. Ayurveda has potentials not only to re-gain, but to re-build and rejuvenate by non-medical methods. These "treasures" were the base that laid the foundations of Indian culture and tradition. ***** | ||
