SHIRODHARA:
Dripping oil on the forehead
It is a titillating form of snehana treatment whereby, the oil or the Therapeutic substance methodically drips along a coarse thread onto the forehead.

Procedure:
Appropriate medicated oils are smeared on the vertex and the body, with the patient lying on a specially designed wooden bed (Droni). A wide mouthed earthen vessel with a small hole at the bottom is hung above the head of the patient, so that the fibre wick hanging from the vessel is made to flow in a continuous stream through the wick on to the upper part of the forehead. A clean piece of cloth is tied around the forehead to prevent dripping of oil into the eyes. The dripping are collected and poured into the earthen vessel and the process is continued for about 60 mins. After the completion of the procedure, patient is given bath with warm water. In particular cases, where bath is not allowed, the oil is wiped off with a dry towel.
